Varia

• Recorded lectures by Gilbert Strang (MIT) form a nice review of the basic material. And here some additional stuff.
• Maple. The course will be an occasion to get acquainted with Maple -- a computer program that can spice the life of every student of mathematics. This will be done via projects, homework and some lab demonstrations. (the availability of the program will be explained during our first meeting).
• How to use Maple for matrices is shown here. You can also get the file in the Maple format ("example.mws").
• A simple Maple program "Markov.mws" to play with Markov chains.
• The Lissajous figures may be found e.g., at Mathworld. Here is an important application. And here is a Java applet.
• You may try this extremally unsophisticated Maple code to view Lissajous figures (Maple file: "lissa.mws").
