Note: After having administered Quiz 1 on August 30, I have found it necessary to rethink my policy regarding cell phones. Specifically, the following is now in force, and may be regarded as an extension of the cell phone policy located in the syllabus: "Cell phones may not be used at any time during a graded event. Thus, regardless of whether the quiz, exam, or other grading mechanism is in your possession, you may not use your cell phone during the time in which the graded event is administered. This includes the use of said device for calculation purposes." I am enforcing this for the following reason: It is possible for a person to communicate with someone else, silently, by means of text messages during a graded event. In order to eliminate the possibility that someone would resort to said method of communication, I am enforcing the above-stated policy on cell phone usage. Please note that violation of this rule will be dealt with in accordance with the university's policy on cheating! (posted at 1:35 p.m. on 8/30/04)
