Research Interests

During the first third of my career, my research interests lay in the broad area of differential geometry. The middle third was spent on an interdisciplinary project modeling the impact of proposed clean air legislation on the coal industry. The last third has been dominated by teaching and by serving as vice chair of the department and LAN manager. I am most proud of two mid-level texts, written with Richard Millman, which have stayed in print for over 25 years.
