Lecturers
LECTURER POSITIONSApplications are invited for variable-time Lecturer positions in Mathematics for the 2009-2010 academic year. Period of the term contract will be from August 16, 2009 to May 15, 2010. Master’s degree in mathematics or a closely related discipline required; Ph.D. preferred. Applicants must provide evidence of excellence in teaching and evidence of ability to teach effectively in English. Preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching in a technology-enhanced environment. For a full-time appointment, duties consist of 12 credit hours of undergraduate mathematics instruction each semester, of which part will be in a technology-enhanced environment. Mathematics Education PositionApplications are invited for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor to begin January 1, 2010, or August 16, 2010, to support the department's programs in mathematics education as part of an on-going Teaching Excellence in Mathematics and Science initiative. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of, or potential for, excellence in research and teaching and have an interest in and aptitude for educating prospective teachers of mathematics. Ph.D. in pure or applied mathematics required prior to beginning of appointment. The applicant hired into this position will be expected to teach effectively, to maintain a vigorous research program, to seek external research funding in the area of mathematics education, and to develop a satisfactory record of service. Teaching and service duties of the position will involve the training of teachers at the elementary and secondary levels.
