"A certificate will be awarded to the top 3 scorers of
math 109. There is no monetary value. The certificate and letter
is useful to the student in support of any future applications for
scholarships, internships, etc."
Test 4 covers chapter 9.
Apr. 23rd (Wed.) in class.
Test problems will be very similar as homework problems. Make sure you understand and be able to reproduce those problems.
No review section outside of the class.
Right after test 3, a new event will be hold ten minutes before each class (at 7:50AM). One problem, most likely from chapter 6 and similar as problems on old final exams, will be given. If anyone works it out before the class, he or she can receive extra credits as much as 10 pts. Partial credit will be given. You have to turn in your work before the class. THE EARLY BIRD CATCHES THE WORM.
If you look closely at old final exams, you will find out half problems are from chapter 6. Indeed, chapter 6 is difficult and stuffed with kernel trigonometric material. Deep understanding of this chapter definitely lights up your future study.
Test correction. (get half points back)
Fall 2007 old exam Part II
Go over all old finals and collect your questions for next two classes or help sessions
Homework 34 & 35: (Due Apr. 28)
Fall 2007 old exam Part I (Hw 34)
Spring 2007 old exam Part I (Hw 35)
Please show complete work rather than just pick your answers
Each homework is worth 10+10 points (10 more points for extra credit)
2 planes (By Diane Fritcher)
1 plane ( PDF, HTML (No units), and HTML (No units))
For all written homework, you need to:
1. Show your complete work; (No credit for just giving a final answer.)
2. Copy questions except those lengthy word problems; (Actually it is much better to copy all questions. You will see the advantage when reviewing homework later on.)
3. Use just one side of each homework sheet and write no more than three problems on each page; (Leave some space for my or your own comment for each problem.)
4. Present your work logically, mathematically, and clearly. Circle your final answer if possible; (Think of your homework as the project review or report you submit to your manager. What do you expect from it? Promotion or demotion? )
5. Print your name and the assignment number. Staple all pages together.
6. No late homework.
7. Even being encouraged to study in small groups, you are not allowed to copy other students' work.
Test 2
Test 2 is a comprehensive test which covers chapter 5 and 6. There would be absolutely no make up test and test correction for mid-term.
I will use the review exercises of chapter 5 and 6 in the textbook as the test bank. Your next homework is to choose and solve ten 10 problems, from the test bank, which you don't understand so well.
We will have an additional meeting on this coming Monday as a review session at 7:00-9:00pm. The location will be informed in the class. Make a good use of this weekend and prepare to ask questions.
I would suggest those who fall behind to either catch up before the test or quit this class.
